The Becoming was formed when guitarist Dustinn Lowry and lead vocalist Caleb Owens signed with EMI Publishing as writers before meeting keyboardist Justin Carpenter at a showcase in Nashville, Tennessee and then asking bassist Kory Arcidino from their tattoo shop to join the band. Drummer Caleb Spicer's reason for joining the band is unknown.[4] Their band makes use of keyboard and guitar combinations that produces a dark feeling to the instrumental sound of The Becoming's music. The band has toured with Saving Abel, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Project 86 and is now touring with The 69 Eyes and Dommin. On April 8, 2009 on the bands Myspace, they have posted a blog regarding their line up change. They have said that Justin and Caleb Spicer will no longer be playing with The Becoming. The Becoming are now touring with The 69 eyes. As of March 2010 We Are The Becoming were removed from Tooth & Nail's website and the status of the band is unknown.
They're currently on a hunt to find a new name; legal reasons made them change it.
On September 30, 2008, The Becoming released their debut album Vol. 1 on Tooth & Nail Records.[5]
